Since Homestuck just went on hiatus, I thought I’d make a post about all the other great webcomics I keep up with, and which you should totally read in the meantime!
Ava’s Demon is a visual marvel and already has some pages with animation and music. There’s some seriously cool worldbuilding going on, and I can’t wait to see how big this thing gets in the future.
Unsounded is one of the most compelling stories I’ve read in a very long time. It manages to combine very real and grounded politics with a magical world somewhat reminiscent of Avatar The Last Airbender. It’s great.
Cucumber Quest is something I hope most of you are already reading, but if not it’s a hilarious and cute Paper Mario-inspired adventure that takes place in a world where everything is based on food. You can’t tell me you don’t want that.
Monster Pop! is a very personal and relatable slice-of-life story, perhaps much more than you would expect from one that stars monster-girls and witches. It also has some really pretty music.

Gunnerkrigg Court - some of you probably already heard of it, or even tried to read it ; the art, as well as the characters, develop quickly, and the story is complex yet consistent! to sum it up, it’s sort of a clash between the forest and the urban sides of the life of antimony carver, a student at gunnerkrigg court
theres a lot of mythology, symbolism, and mechanics involved and its obvious that the author took time to research different topics! just like homestuck, it starts out as moderately boring, but quickly becomes addictive as you keep reading. the main character might even come off as a bit of a mary sue at the very beginning, but her character development quickly becomes apparent.
Helvetica has been on a hiatus for a very long time due to the author’s personal issues, but the art style and characters are very attractive!
in the afterlife, a civilization of skeletons keep on living with no memory of the events preceding their deaths. helvetica, our protagonist, is curious about his previous life, and tries to find out what happened to him.
Fishbones is the webcomic adaptation and collaboration between the author of a full length novel which goes by the same name, and a talented artist who also illustrates another webcomic called Gorge ; the story follows a private school kid whose only friend is part of the mafia. i can’t really summarize it well since there isnt that much content yet, but it’s definitely worth a shot!! the art and characters are really good as well!
Curio is the really cute story of a little girl called vivi elevator, and whose adult relatives and acquaintances dont seem to realize that despite her age, she perfectly understand whats going on around her. as she wanders around, a crow steals the hairclip her dying mom just offered her, and discovers a deserted house full of mysteries. if you like ADORABLE art and intriguing plots you should definitely check it out!!!

Yu+Me Dream:
YU+ME: dream is a surreal love story. It is part high school romance, part journey/adventure story, and part total-mind-fuck. It is a complete story, so you don’t have to wait for updates!
This is one of my favorite webcomics, though I can’t explain too much of the plot without giving away a massive plot twist! So go read it and bear with some slightly shaky art in the beginning - it gets very, very good, with art that is nothing short of spectacular.
This story is finished.
The Fox Sister: Set in Seoul in 1968, the comic is inspired by the Korean folk tale The Fox Sister, which involves a nine-tailed fox demon (kumiho) killing people and eating their livers in order to become human. The story follows Cho Yun-Hee, a priestess (mudang) of Korean shamanism, whose family was killed years ago by a kumiho, trying to find the killer – now wearing Yun-Hee’s dead sister’s body – with the aid of Alex, an American military veteran and Christian missionary.
This story is inspired by a really cool Korean folk tail you can read about on wikipedia, and it has incredible art (I say that a lot but it’s true) and has very intense story and characters. Also Alex, what a cute.

Nimona:
Nimona is set in a mash-up universe that combines fantasy and science fiction tropes. The plot centers around the titular character of Nimona, a rambunctious young shapeshifter. She’s the sidekick of the supervillain Lord Ballister Blackheart, a knight turned mad scientist who’s pursued by his nemesis, Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin of the Institution of Law Enforcement and Heroics.
Nimona! with probably the cutest art and the cutest characters in all of existance ever, Nimona is an often-fun-but-periodically-serious adventure story that blends humor and sobriety deftly.

Widdershins:
Widdershins is a webcomic by Kate Ashwin, the artist behind the now completed webcomic Darken. Many important events take place or have their origin in the eponymous city of Widdershins, where magic is easier to perform than anywhere else.
The first story, “Sleight of Hand,” follows Sidney Malik, a failed magician and wizard who is cursed with a kind of magical kleptomania which results in his expulsion from university. While struggling to find a job, he ends up caught up in professional artefact-hunter Harriet (“Harry”) Barber’s latest quest: finding the Mark of Thieves.
The second story, “No Rest for the Wicked,” deals with Jack O’Malley (who can see spirits) and his friend Heinrich Wolfe. To avoid jail, they end up working for the city helping civil servant and wizard Ben Thackery in locating and banishing malforms, or failed summonings.
The third story, “Vanishing Act” (in progress), returns to Sidney and Harry as they investigate the disappearance of an old friend of Sidney’s.
Widdershins has a fun, cartoony style that is contrasted by dark and interesting color palattes. The stories so far have been extremely captivating, and the characters are boisterous and fun. An excellent read!

Guilded Age:
Guilded Age is a Heroic Fantasy webcomic, in which six fairly competent adventurers conveniently meet and form a group to make a living of… well… adventuring. The meat of the story deals with our heroes getting hired to do various jobs for the growing human nation of Gastonia. Gastonia is in the middle of a technological revolution, and its rapid border expansion has earned it much ire from the “savage races,” as well as older magical societies, like those of the elves. On top of that, each of the six characters has their own issues to deal with, and as a group the multicultural, multiracial band tends to face as much personal conflict as they do political conflict. Possibly my favorite in terms of art, and one of my most recommended. I love the adventurers and the grind they go through politically, encountering racism, sexism, and countless other -isms while trying to bring peace to a warring continent. An incredible read.

a story involving gods and magic and insomnia and wer-sharks and brave women.
i fell in love with silvertophat’s comic and it’s amazing culture a few years ago, and she still hasn’t disappointed, but instead continued to surprise and amaze.
Arch is a really fantastic comic. The art is a little rough in the beginning, but the story is honestly worth it. Hannah, the girl who makes it, has literally created this entire universe, and it’s totally wicked. You should definitely give it a try.
Vibe by Dan Ciurczak - Updates Tuesdays
Vibe follows Baron Bones, a young witch doctor, as he battles through monstrous manifested emotions called vibes while searching for his missing sister. The style is CRAZY awesome and eye-catching and is really fresh and fun to read. Highly recommend this one
Sakana by Mad Rupert - Updates every week; not sure exactly which day(s) oops
This strip-format comic is about two brothers Jiro and Taro who work at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan. One is cripplingly afraid of girls and the other has anger issues. Hijinks ensue. Mad’s comic and characters are just so endearing and fun to read; I’d be really hard pressed to tell you which character is my top favorite because they’re all just so varied and interesting and I love them
If I think of any more webcomics that haven’t already been listed here I’ll post about them. I’m just blanking right now because I’m terrible

These little bunnies, about 6 days old, were attacked by a dog and orphaned. Two out of the litter of five did not survive, and these three were not doing very well.
Enter Noah-the non-releasable, one-legged homing pigeon/rock dove that we have here in rehab.
Noah kept going over to the bunny cage and looking in-even sleeping in front of the door to the cage. Then, 2 days ago, I only counted 2 bunnies in the cage, so I hurriedly picked Noah up from the front of the cage so I could look inside. And to my surprise-there was the tiny bunny-under Noah’s wing-sound asleep!
The bunny had crawled through the cage-preferring a featherbed, no doubt. Now, they are all together, and the bunnies are doing GREAT. When the bunnies scoot underneath Noah’s feathers, he extends his wings out to surround them-and they snuggle. When one of them moves and they start sticking out here and there, he gently pushes them back under him with his beak!
Although the bunnies seem to be his favorite, Noah now helps out with many rescue babies here at the Wild Rose Rescue Ranch.
How wonderful it is to have a full-time soft-feathered nurturer here at the rescue ranch! He cuddles with all the babies as they snuggle under his warm feathers…and he “coos” as if singing them to sleep with a lullaby.
